Hello Buddies, I am back with exciting and astonishing memories of Switzerland. Most awaited blog in queue of my Europe trip. Switzerland is known to be country of peace. The few things that strike my mind when I hear Switzerland are the snow-capped Alps, Swiss chocolates and watches and City Geneva and I am sure I had a chance to see places more than mentioned 🙂

Rhine water falls

Started with Rhine Falls at Neuhausen, they are the ‘largest’ waterfalls in Europe. I couldn’t have a chance to experience the falls from boat. The view of waterfall was quite spectacular. It was not only the largest waterfall but was also the most beautiful waterfall.  The well placed Swiss flags on the rocks just gave the feeling that the Rhine falls are crowned as beauty of Switzerland.

From Rhine falls we headed to Lucerne.  How can we miss the view of rich and classy streets of Switzerland? We parked our coach near Chapel Bridge in Lucerne. Since we missed our lunch we were first looking for restaurants to serve our hunger, after having a burger from McDonald’s, we headed towards the streets of Switzerland. Since we had very little time after snuch(Snack+Lunch) 😉 we were not lucky enough to go round the chapel bridge but made sure that we were enjoying the city by walk. The streets were lined up with all top class showrooms of watches, banks corporate offices, etc.  Since it was the Xmas eve the city had a stunning beauty decorated with lights.

Switzerland is known as fourth most expensive city in the world.  They’re very great on fashion and have very familiar brands that we have in United Kingdom. The streets speaks it all, that how expensive the Switzerland is. Every street in Switzerland have a chocolate shops which is definitely mouth-watering, and can never stop our legs from walking in and grabbing few Swiss chocolates. We could see the snow mountains from the streets, since it was the X-mas time, the city was decorated just like a bride!! The view was simply stunning.

Dying Lion Monument

The most awaited destination of the trip was ‘Mt Titlis’, the Alps Mountains, which has the world’s first revolving cable car. The tickets for the cable car was already handed to us by our tour guide. We were all set to explore snow-capped mountains. We all headed to cable car station from where the cable car picked us to ice mountains. It was breath-taking sceneries of landscape filled with ice which took me back to the song from ROJA movie (Puduvellai mazai) which although was not captured in Switzerland but could feel it. It was one of the most dreamt place in my bucket list. I was so happy to strike off one item from my wish list. We also had a chance to experience the Rotair, which rotates as it ascends give everyone a 360-degree view irrespective of where you stand. And there are only a few of its kind in the world.

Movie DDLJ was shot at different locations of Switzerland and is a super hit Hindi movie made by Yash Chopra. To celebrate the same, there is a cut-out of Shahrukh khan and Kajol, without a second thought we rushed to the cut out for a snap. And this cut-out is put right at the entrance of Mt. Tiltis

It was time to explore some exciting and thrilling activities of Mt Titlis. To start with Glacier cave, it is a cave of ice. This cave is 150-metre-long walkway and descends 20 metres below the surface of the glacier, the blue colour is caused by the refraction of light. The temperature inside the cave is -1˚C to -1.5˚C.degree. It was really a cool and freezing experience.

Cliff Walk

The next exciting activity was Cliff Walk, an amazing experience. TITLIS Cliff Walk holds the record for being the highest suspension bridge in Europe. TITLIS Cliff Walk is just one metre wide and 100 metres long. The remarkable suspension bridge up on summit is 3,041 metres above sea-level. 500 metres off the ground. This was an exciting and adventurous walks with a wonderful panoramic scenic view of snowy and rocky cliff all around.

The next stop in the list was Interlaken . We did tour the place by walk through Christmas markets and Kurssaal Garden. Kurssaal garden seemed to be a collection of different variety of flowers. We could also spot the most famous statue of well-known film maker of Indian cinema Yash Chopra unveiled in Interlaken. Also came across a landmark which reminded me of scene from DDLJ, where SRK tricks Kajol while convincing her that he is in a mood to apologise for his antics.

The next spot in the list was Geneva. It is known as hub of European Headquarters of the United Nations as well as the original Red Cross Building. Geneva is said to be home to approximately 20 international organizations. It was a great feeling standing right in front of United Nations office with the colourful display of the nations’ flags out front.
